Eau Claire (WQOW) - Some local medical personnel and community members have a new profession: they're headed to Haiti soon.

Every day it seems like we're hearing remarkable stories about the effort in that country. One example: a teenage young lady who was pulled out of the rubble 15 days after the earthquake. She's now in firm condition. It's a story like that that inspires restricted medical personnel as they prepare to leave for Haiti.

Luther Midelfort is reaching out to Haiti, sending supplies and one of its own crew members.

"I definitely feel like I have a talent set that can be of use down there," says Wayne Street, Luther Midelfort's trauma center maestro. "Not only medical but I can plumb, I can build, I can do concrete. I can effort hard."

Wayne is a nurse who's heading to Haiti--perchance in the next week.

"My heart cries out for the people of Haiti," Wayne says. "Anything needed to rebuild will have to be brought in from remote countries and by ship. And that's going to take continuously."
