Pride Pools, Spas & Leisure celebrates 35 years
Self-esteem Pools, Spas & Leisure Products is celebrating 35 years of "Backyard People Fun." To show appreciation for customers past and future, the crowd is offering those who come in now a spin of the wheel for some gargantuan deals.
Today the company is operated by three of the five children of Gary and Marie Smith of Claxton. Fellow-clansman and sister Alex J. Smith and Sherry S. Buckman industry out of the Savannah location in west Chatham County.
Alex heads the handling department and Sherry the retail end of the business, while mate Marshall Smith manages the Claxton outlet. Their dad, who founded Pride Pool back in 1975, retired in 2000.
Haughtiness has operated a Savannah location for more than 25 years. They have been in their simultaneous store in the Savannah Festival Outlet Center, located on U.S. Highway 204 at the Interstate 95 interchange, for five years.
The beginning Claxton location expanded into a new store on U.S. Highway 280 in Hagan in April 2008. Selling and servicing pools and spas over a 75 to 100-mile radius of Savannah, Self-respect employs 20 to 25 people at the two locations.
