He and others were urged to develop a men's civic organization that could contend with the volunteer vocation of women's groups in the area.

It has been nearly 60 years since Dickson and others established the McIntosh Lions League together, an organization that has given the poor eyeglasses, donated resources to produce military memorials and given money to county schools.
Most recently, the club raised hundreds of dollars to work for earthquake victims in Haiti.
That's a lot of benevolent deeds for the cabaret's members, currently 30 people in a township whose population has not exceeded much more than 500.
"We're a small club, but we do a lot of ethical with the money we have," Dickson said.
Monday at 6:30 p.m., members of the fraternity will celebrate six decades of community service and deep regard during a gathering at the McIntosh United Methodist Church League Hall.
Sometimes their gatherings are bittersweet.
